Resumé of the Recommendations of the Postmaster-General.

Report of April 1899 contained the following recommendations :-

Seven Additional Clerks General Office & Registration Department at $240 per annum each $1,680.

Note. The new Clerk in the Registration Department has already been taken on.

Two Marine Officers at $540 per annum each $1,080.

Increase of Chinese Staff (Messengers and Postmen) $6,576.

Increase in salaries. Total increase $8,916.

N.B. The following has been sanctioned by the Secretary of State and will take effect from January 1st, 1900.

Report of November 10th, 1899 contains the following recommendations:-

Seven Additional Clerks. General Office & Registration Department 2 commencing $480 each: rising to $720 $4,320.

1 Correspondence Clerk Commencing $960 rising to $1,300 $1,500.

Increased Expenditure $3,340 rising to $5,530.

Report of November 13th, 1899 contains the following recommendations:-

Marine Staff General Office = 1 Commencing at $480 to $720. 2 Marine Stampers $144 each $288 Travelling Allowance $40.
